HULL City legend Dean Windass has signed for Barton Town on a game-by-game deal.

The 41-year-old, who fired the Tigers into the Premier League just two years ago, retired from professional football last season

Barton play in the North East Counties League Division One – one below the likes of Bridlington and Hall Road rangers – and Windass is set to make his debut on Bank Holiday Monday, against Yorkshire Amateur.

Swans boss Dave Anderson knows Windass from their days in the Hull City youth set-up.

“Sid Nical, Hull - my Grandads ashes were also scattered at Boothferry Park, my Dad said the KC would be fine as he saw City in the top flight, something Grandad never did.

“When is the walkway to the KC from Park street going to be renamed Windass Way?
Disgraceful none commitment by those responsible for such actions.
And whislt I'm here why not the same outcrying of (mostly phoney) emotions about the demise of Boothferry park like the vomit inducing sentiment we have had outpourings of because that shed at the boulevard is getting knocked down?
My relations ashes are scattered on the pitch at Boothferry Park, and I have not heard one media voice speak up in support or asking for the same repect for the loved ones (are there are hundreds) who's relations ashes are on the Boothferry Park pitch. Unlike the whinging/fawning over the boulevard and these none existant "foundation" stones etc etc etc.”
