ROADWORKS in County Road North are continuing to cause traffic problems.

The works began yesterday which caused gridlock in the west of the city. The problems have been aggravated by further roadworks in Bricknell and Chanterlands Avenues.

One frustrated motorist told the Mail last night: "Vehicles are nose to tail again. It's taken 25 minutes just to move a mile or so.

"It's pretty jammed and cars are reversing to get out of the queues."

“The hilarious part is that you pay people to do this planning efficiently and effectively.

No one will be held to account for this disgraceful job, the merry go round will carry on turning, the cash will keep on churning and we'll all grin and bear it like we always do.

Nothing to see here proles, move along.”

“The situation in Cottingham is unacceptable, the road works have been going on for months, the workforce to me look like a bunch of numpties, standing around clueless to the chaos that surrounds them, gawping at there mobile phones sending texts and giggling to themselves, yea im stuck in the traffic so I see it all !! how can this take so long? why are the traffic light signals not manned to coordinate the flow of traffic more efficiently than the lights? Why isn't the workforce working into the evenings, weekends, and earlier in the mornings? I understand the works are power cabling upgrades,? if this is the case then the power companies can easily afford double shifts to get the works done more speedily. This is compounding the works on County Road !Totally unacceptable !”
