East Yorkshire can expect some wintry showers today as temperatures barely rise above freezing.

Most places will experience only a dusting of snow but there could be up to five centimetres on higher ground, while areas around the coast are more likely to see sleet.

“I feel sorry for that girl in the photo who has to go out and be photographed in the same pose every time it snows a bit.

Let's hope she gets a lovely cup of Bovril after each shoot.”

“Thanks Oldgoldone for correctly pointing out to Kewstu the status of ERYC and the unitary status of Hull - you beat me to it! Kewstu may just meant a geographic region. Anyway, the snow hasn't come down on me yet in Hull so I'm still hoping it keeps on the other side of the line; mainly because I see more snow-ploughs in the East Riding area than in Hull!!”

“No, dear Kewstu, Hull certainly isn't in East Yorkshire. Following the abolition of Humberside County Council, Hull reverted to being 'The City and County of Kingston-upon-Hull' - although, nowadays, it's a 'Unitary Authority' (as is ERYC).”

“"Wintry showers expected for East Yorkshire."

Does that mean if everyone pops over the East Yorkshire boundary into Hull they'll avoid the bad weather? ;)”
