Appeal for witnesses to fatal A166 crash

A man was killed and two people seriously injured in a road traffic accident in the East Riding.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision on the A166 Driffield to York road.

A 66-year-old Driffield man who was driving a Toyota Carina E, died shortly after being taken to York District Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 46-year-old woman from the Driffield area, was admitted to the York hospital.

Her passenger, a four-year-old boy, was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

Although suffering serious injuries, they are both said to be in a stable condition.

Both cars were travelling in opposite directions when the accident happened between Fridaythorpe and Garrowby Hill on Friday at about 5pm.

Police have not yet named the dead man or the two injured.
