A 54-year-old woman was found lying on the ground with head injuries after an assault in east Hull.

It is believed she was attacked by a group of youths as she walked home along New Bridge Road following a night out.

  1. Humberside Police badge

The woman, who has little recollection of the attack, left the New Southcoates Club shortly after midnight on Saturday (November 17) and remembers walking past the Humber Social Club.

A police spokeswoman said: "The victim vaguely recalls seeing a group of male youths as she was walking along and says they shouted at her, ran across to her and assaulted her, knocking her to the ground.

“fairway, why does there have to be a reason for what happened? There's plenty of times an innocent person has been bashed over the head for no reason by scum. I doubt a 54 year old woman is going to argue and take on a gang of youths in the middle of the night, but I think it highly likely that the youths would take on the woman.

I'm guessing things are vague at the moment because the woman had the **** kicked out of her and is finding it hard to remember the precise details!”

“@ cueball44 - You misunderstand me totally, I don't have 'a problem' wanting to know every minor detail, I'm saying it would be helpfull if the Police / HDM gave us the true / correct version of events and didn't leave certain details out.
Of course, any assault should be treat seriously by police & punish those who think it's ok to behave like that.
The problem here, is that there must have been some form of altercation / incident / confrontation which made the 'offender' carry out this assault - which is exactly what they won't tell us. For example, what if the woman shouted a racist or other derogaratory remark at someone across the road at someone who then assaulted her. This would put a whole different light on things. (I am NOT suggesting this is what happened, just as an example only.)”

“by fairway1. What's your problem wanting to know every detail of the assault. If she had for some reason given them a Mooney, it does not give them reason to beat her up. I hope they are caught and given a substantial prison sentence.”

“Sorry, I didn't mean it was OK for this woman to be asaulted & I hope they find whoever was involved, what I meant is that when the Police or The HDM deliberately provide us with less than half a story it makes me suspicious of the events that they say happened.”

“@ fairway1, why doesn't the story ring true? OK, the victim is vague, she probably won't have been drinking lemonade in the club, and she's just received a head injury - that doesn't excuse the actions of the scum that did it. Only last week there was an article on here about a young blind man and his dad got beaten up by two scum - so what was the reason there? I hope the woman can make a full recovery, maybe in time she'll be able to give more details to the police.”

“Nobody deserves a SLAP as you so called put it fairway1,
no matter what she said! It's like saying because you don't like the look of someone or what they are wearing I'll give them a Slap! You can't
Just go around slapping people. That is very narrow minded!”

This story is too vague & doesn't ring true to me, whats the TRUE story HDM / Humberside Police? There will have been a reason she had a slap & they're not willing to tell us.”

“Those in power will have to do something about these gangs, otherwise there will come a day when some person/persons lose it big time, and leaves some badly damaged, if not dead bodies in a heap.”
