The woman and the driver of the military truck, a 54-year-old East Yorkshire man, had to be cut free from the vehicles.

The man suffered injuries to his hand and whiplash.

There were two passengers in the truck – a 63-year-old Beverley man who suffered whiplash, and a 20-year-old woman from Durham, who suffered scratches to the leg and whiplash.

Police said there was heavy rain and hail at the time of the crash.

Emergency services attended the scene, including an air ambulance, three ambulances, a paramedic responder car, three fire engines, a doctor and police.

The road was closed until 9.50pm.

Witnesses are asked to call the Humberside Police traffic department at Driffield Police Station on 101, referring to log 368 of April 26.

“kewstu and gasetta, people have to learn to drive bomb disposal vehicles. Thoughts to all concerned. It may have just been an accident, why try and apportion blame immediately.”

“@Gassetta it was a bomb disposal team, and not a MOD learner, if you have nothing to say which is constructive why don't you just shut up.”

    “Thoughts to all involved..

I dont no the facts to this colision, but some peoples driving yesterday in the heaviest downpours we've had in along time was totaly unacceptable - aquaplaning, swerving around standing water into the path of other vehicles, tailgating.steamed up windows, over taking.not reducing speed..
Were not immortal in our little tin boxs.
    rant over.”

“gassetta..the driver was a 54 year old man, why are you insinuating it would have been a learner driver. When the weather is bad it's not making a Mistake it's being able to control the vehicle.”

“it would have been a MOD driver in training, from Leconfield, the weather was bad, and that roads very dangerous,

its easy for either driver to have made a mistake, my sympathies to her family,”
