The Hull gym was also nominated in the UK Workout Magazine Awards held in Leicester at the end of last year, making the final in three categories.

Gymophobics says its figure improvement programme called Resisted Tension is very different from conventional workouts. It became the first in the UK to be awarded a Trademark.

“Whilst I applaud their achievement, it has, once again, raised a question in my mind as to the number of "women only" clubs, etc. We have women only cycling groups, women only events such as Race for Life and now, women only gyms. I'm all for equal rights and am therefore curious as to what would happen if a men only group or event was created; would there be a loud outcry from the ladies?”
