Hull is home to the friendliest folk you are likely to find, but who are unable to correctly use pedestrian crossings outside of their busy, badly designed bus station.
Maybe we could turn this into a unique Hull tourist attraction, a bit like London's changing the guard, or Edinburgh's noon cannon. All we need is a supply of folk willing to chuck themselves under a No58 at 11am sharp every day. Shouldn't be too hard!”

“To me, to you, welcome ToHull!
Home of multi million pound swing bridges that don't actually lead to anywhere & where roadworks take place on all the main roads during the same few weeks during major events.
Hull is home to the friendliest folk you are likely to find, but who are unable to correctly use pedestrian crossings outside of their busy, badly designed bus station.
Hull is a perfect example for other cities for exactly how NOT to do things.”

“The problem is for all of those people on here that become defensive regarding any negative comments made about Hull, is that the negative comments are true. The city centre is in a very poor state and is a depressing place to shop, you can exchange used needles in the city centre (that is not really an issue), and many many other city centres are far nicer, are more easily accessed, have far superior shops and do not have a massive Poundland as the first shop you see on arrival. Becoming defensive and telling people to leave is exactly what people are doing, something real needs to be done to save Hull's city centre quickly.”

“I like "WonderfHull" etc as a concept for a marketable city slogan.
Reminds me of "I AMsterdam" and "I♥NY"
Of course, it can be abused: TerribHull, FrightfHull etc
But that's inevitable, and not necessarily a bad thing. People like to play with a good idea.
Re: the video, it's a pity it relies on generic stock photos and music that do nothing to show off our city or its people.”

“If anyone in Hull Bid is actually from Hull (most of these quango's seem to be run by people with little knowledge of the city) they would of being a little bit cleverer and dropped the 'H' like us locals do and presenting a clearer message 'wonderf 'ull' for example.
Still what do I know, I'm not an overpaid under inspired lacking creativity Hull ad man.
I back up some of the comments on the page here. I was born in Hull but recently moved to Nottingham. Given the headlines this place has received, ie 'Shottingham', and the amount of gun crime and gang crime here, this is a city with real aspirations and a plan and will to get things done. New bridge over the Trent to ease congestion, extending the tramlines across the city to improve local traffic, the Ice Arena compared to our really is first class, beautiful theatre, great shopping, a nightlife that doesn't close at 7pm, and they celebrate their local heros and even outlaws!
One commenter is right, Hull is seriously behind the times, and it's not just Labour, its the Lib Dems to with their in house squabbling. Boot them all out and get real people involved in the running of the city.
And as for the people selling the city to outsiders, what a disappointment it must be to the suckers they pull in when they see the place. Unless of course they want to shop in poundland.”

“Hull City Council's functionally labelled "Old Town Festive Experience" was suitably underwhelming at the weekend.”
