A NEW Waltham girl is hoping to hit the big time in one of Britain's biggest singing competitions.

Laura Webster, 16, has got through to the regional finals of Open Mic UK – a competition to find the UK's best unsigned artists.

Having impressed the judges at the initial stages, she now has to compete at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday, September 30.

Laura's mother, Lisa Hind, 43, said: "She has always loved singing – even when she was a baby she would sing herself to sleep."
