Laura bids to sign off in competition
A NEW Waltham girl is hoping to hit the big time in one of Britain's biggest singing competitions.
Laura Webster, 16, has got through to the regional finals of Open Mic UK – a competition to find the UK's best unsigned artists.
Having impressed the judges at the initial stages, she now has to compete at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday, September 30.
If she gets through to the finals, she will get the chance to perform at the O2 Arena, where the overall winner will win £50,000 worth of prizes and a recording contract.

The former Caistor Yarborough student has started a travel and tourism course at Grimsby Indtitute, but hopes to win the competition and become a famous vocalist.
Laura's mother, Lisa Hind, 43, said: "She has always loved singing – even when she was a baby she would sing herself to sleep."
