INITIAL plans for next year's Barton Arts Week have been revealed.

Barton Arts held its first meeting under new chairman Monty Martin to plan an exciting festival of events for 2013.

The charity exists to promote the arts, including literature, drama, mime, dance, singing, music and visual arts.

Mr Martin emphasised that the town could look forward to a very varied programme between June 27 and July 14, 2013.

Events will include a Chamber Orchestra Concert, two choir concerts, a poetry slam, an acoustic Barnsfest Unplugged, Ted Lewis/Phil Pape/Henry Treece Breakfast, a Cool Jazz Night, drama production of Under Milk Wood, open gardens and street dance with performers, a two-day Conceptional Happening at St Mary's Church and traditional jazz.
