A pedestrian was injured in an accident with a bus in Chanterlands Avenue Hull
CCTV footage apparently supports witness accounts that the man, thought to be in his fifties, had stepped out from between parked cars and failed to see the Stagecoach bus.
Speaking at the scene, close to the junction with Spring Bank West, a witness – who did not want to give his name – said: “I saw it all. It was definitely not the bus driver’s fault.

“I was just about to get off the bus when it happened. There was nothing the driver could have done about it.”
Stagecoach says its 13S Orchard Park service is available to all passengers, although it makes scheduled drop-offs at Kelvin Hall School and Wyke College.
Graham Renshaw, the company’s assistant operations manager, said an internal investigation had been launched.
He said: “No passenger was hurt, although our driver was pretty shaken up.
“Police have told us the whole thing was captured on CCTV and it appears the man crossed between two parked cars, stepping out in front of the bus.”
Traffic quickly built up, causing tailbacks along the length of Spring Bank West, although police quickly set up diversions and cars were flowing freely again within 30 minutes.
Riccardo Tursi, of Dolci Italian Bakery, said: “It’s very busy in this street. Problems are caused by cars having to park on the street. There needs to be more parking.”
Richard Ireland, 47, who lives opposite where the accident happened, said: “There is not enough parking down here.
“There needs to be a car park for the shops.
“People park on the road and it’s dangerous because pedestrians can’t see the traffic.”
PC Steve Lamswood, one of the officers at the scene, said: “A pedestrian crossing the road has come in collision with a bus. His injuries are not considered serious.”
The man is understood to have suffered a head injury and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.
Anyone who witnessed the accident, but did not give police their details at the scene, is asked to call 101.

“"David_Nivea",
As usual the reporter did not write the full statement's made, and he did mix up with other interviews he made on that morning!
As said earlier,in the comment's ,
No wonder people do not usually make statement's and when they do they expect them to be written as said.
Most people do not read short-hand (as this is what he was writing in at the time!)
So it is anyone's idea as to what go's in the final story.”

“CCTV needs putting up at crossings, then pedestrians would be safe to use them and wouldn't have to cross between parked cars, especially if fines were placed for those drivers (which sadly is the majority) buses included who think they are far too important to stop for a pedestrian who wants to cross or is already halfway across the road "at the pelican crossing". I notice my comments about bad motorists get dislikes, well until these idiots learn to drive properly I will keep posting them, as for grinding my axe against stagecoach, well I have reported their drivers being reckless almost costing me my life down chants on regular occasions and the company doesn't take it seriously! When I see a pedestrian walking out in the road I slow down and prepare to stop like any good motorist should, not weld the accelerator to the floor cos I'm in a bigger vehicle and have the right of way.....too many bad drivers on our roads is the problem, not the amount of parking spaces down chants, this article tries to distract from the truth.”

“I'm glad the video is on here, if it had just been a photo I wouldn't have known that the lights were flashing.”

“The anti bus mob will try to slant the blame on the bus driver and bus company even when clearly they were not a fault.
smartguy1 if the bus was going over 20mph it would not have stopped that quickly and he would have been seriously injured or killed.
sabboo you clearly have an axe to grind with Stagecoach, get over it.”

“There's a crossing nearby, why not use it. If I was the driver, I'd be after suing him for trauma and stress caused to me by his careless and irresponsible actions...throw him in jail for ten years.”

“i totally dissagre with this article, i was one of the students that was on that bus that morning on the school run. the bloke was 54 and you would have thought that he would have set a good example for the younger school children walking by that morning and you would have thought hat he would have crossed at onwe of the two crossings near where the accident took place. i dissagre with all this "need for new parking" *****nce, he chose to cross the road inbetween two parked cars, so now he pays the consequences.”

“parking has nothing to do with this, although the bus driver in this instance was not in the wrong, they generally refuse to slow down or stop for people crossing at the pelican crossings down chants, when he hit this guy he was probably focusing all his attention on cutting off a cyclist between himself and a stationary vehicle or jumping the next red light, just as most other motorists feel they are above the law too and dont care somebody is halfway across the road whether they are at a crossing or not, i would love to see cctv put up in these areas and drivers fined and banned for their dangerous driving, thats the only way things like this will ever end, and i restate that you shouldnt waste your time reporting illegal dangerous driving to stagecoach as it isnt taken seriously by them in the slightest.”

“"Richard Ireland, 47, who lives opposite where the accident happened, said: "There is not enough parking down here."
On the contrary, it's usually parked up on both sides all the way along. How much more parking do you want, Mr. Ireland?”
