Laser manufacturer Rofin Sinar has cut through the credit crunch by a process of constant innovation.
The company, based in York Way, Willerby, has reported a double-figure increase in revenue over the past 12 months, helped by winning the Mail's Business of the Year Award and the award for innovation last year.
It employs around 90 people, supplies lasers to a host of companies across the world and can count Coca-Cola and Kellogg's among it customers.
Managing director Dr Ken Lipton said it had been a good year since winning the awards.
He said: “Revenues were up 10 per cent to around £11m and our latest product, the 600 watt laser we won the Mail innovation award for, has been selling very well around the world.”
Rofin Sinar makes industrial lasers with power ranging from 100 watts to 1,000 watts.
They are used in the manufacture of a host of products across sectors ranging from aerospace and automotive to footwear, clothes, and hospital operating theatres.
It also produces a wide range of laser-based coding and marking machines for an even wider span of industries.
The company exports more than 90 per cent of its products, mainly to Germany, Italy and China.
As well as the Mail's award, the company has won the Queen's Award for Innovation.
