Virtual visits to capital's landmarks
Saville Creative, part of design firm Saville Audio Visual, has won a contract to supply the software for series of touch-screen information kiosks in the capital.
The kiosks provide information on landmarks visible from the bridge, such as St Paul's Cathedral, Canary Wharf, The Tower of London, maritime Greenwich and the London Eye.
Visitors to the exhibition choose the location they want to see by touching the computer screen, which tells them where to see it from Tower Bridge.
The software then transports the user virtually to the building, displayed in 3-D, and provides accompanying facts and information in one of seven languages.
The kiosks are all controlled by a master PC which contains the language and operating files and allows the software to be updated and maintained remotely from the company's Hull studio.
The software also contains Saville's own cutting-edge Electronic Data Information Capture and Transfer (Edict) system, which analyses visitor usage in terms of sights most visited and nationality of users.
