Young Hull entrepreneur to meet Prince Charles

07:00 - 15-May-2008

A HULL entrepreneur has been selected to represent the Yorkshire and Humber region at the Prince's Trust anniversary celebration in London today.

Lindsay Mann, who runs photography business Pic and Mix Photography in Stroud Crescent West, Bransholme, will meet Prince Charles and chancellor Alistair Darling at a ceremony which celebrates 25 years of the trust's Business Programme.

The conference will also feature TV's Dragon's Den stars Deborah Meaden and James Caan and CMC owner Peter Cruddas and Travelex founder Lloyd Dorfman.

Ms Mann, 25, established Pic and Mix in October 2005, after receiving a grant of £1,200 and access to a mentor through the Prince's Trust's programme.

The money helped her buy a car, a computer processor for photographs and market the business.

Her mentor helped her with legal and tax documentation.

The company, which creates personal and contemporary photographs for weddings, portraits and interior art, is now going from strength to strength and she is looking for a studio as well as an assistant to help with demand.

The trust's business programme's anniversary comes as the charity is calling for more support for entrepreneurs in the Yorkshire region.

According to figures released by the organisation, 35 per cent of young people across the county would like to start their own business yet only six per cent have.
