AN underground electrical fire left more than 180 customers, including several businesses, without power for nine hours on Saturday night.

Northern Power Grid received a stream of complaints about power being cut off in the Lairgate and North Bar Within area of Beverley from about 8pm.

The fire service was also called because smoke was coming from the pavement.

In the end, there was no fire and no-one was injured.

“"An electrical fire", "in the end there was no fire."

So was there a fire, or not?”
