WE ARE looking forward to a really busy period next month, with the highlight of the caravan industry's year – the East Yorkshire caravan show beginning tomorrow.

This year's event comes as the industry has faced its most uncertain times yet, in the aftermath of the proposed 20 per cent tax.

Thankfully, the Government affected a climb down on that, reducing it to 5 per cent.

It would have had a devastating effect on manufacturers, and it was an enormous relief when it was cut.

I would have preferred it if things had stayed the same, of course, but we're confident our company can absorb the 5 per cent tax, without passing on extra costs to our customers.

We are celebrating 25 years' trading this autumn, so we have a lot to be thankful for, and we're in a strong trading position.

We export 60 per cent of our caravans to Europe, mainly Holland, Belgium, and Norway, so we don't just rely on the home market. I think that has helped us perform so well in recent times.

We have 20 staff on the shop floor, and everyone has played their part in the company doing well over the past 12 months.

Many of our staff have been with us for a long time and their craftsmanship is second to none.

We all take immense pride in the quality of our caravans.

It has been a busy time for us, getting ready for the show which starts this weekend.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, getting the models ready.

Last year, it took five days to get everything set up, as it had rained non-stop and the ground was terrible.

We're keeping everything crossed for fine weather this time.

We are taking three models to the show, Topaz, Clipper and Eclipse.

These range from our entry model, to our flagship caravan, and we're looking forward to welcoming customers old and new.

Getting to show people around the caravans and meeting customers face-to- face is what makes the shows so enjoyable.

I feel a great pride in showing off our models at the shows, and after the East Yorkshire show, we will be off to shows in Paris and Brussels, so there are exciting times ahead.

The show takes place at Cottingham Parks, Woodhill Way, Cottingham, and is open to the public on Satur- day and Sunday. Trade days are Tuesday to Thursday.
