“Just seen Karl Turner on Look North and apparently they're all getting together and will "hopefully come to an amicable resolution". He did seem to stumble on the word resolution tho' as if he really had to think what the appropriate word should be
I think the main word should be SORRY and everybody who accused this little boy of being racist admit that they are a set of idiots and hang their heads in shame”

“I hope the parents sue also but I'm thinking more along the lines of psychological damage
Because this little boy has had this furore surrounding him, he deserves some explanation and I just hope all the PC nutters involved can come up with something halfway decent that won't leave poor little Elliott growing up confused !”

“This is just my opinion but whilst I understand the calls to sue the headteacher/school for the appalling way this poor child has been treated, isn't it a shame that we instantly use the 'where there's blame there's a claim' route instead of thinking of other alternatives? This politically correct madness was cultivated in the good old USA. So was the over-use of litigation. A simple public apology would surely be the best outcome. The insipid drip-feeding of the American culture into our society is the problem here, methinks. Just saying...”

I disagree totally
A public apology won't cut it for little Elliott
He obviously understands something is amiss and will need some sort of explanation which he'll be able to understand..........and not leaving him feeling confused. Something like this could have a big impact on his life !”

“Pippa1951. As I said, just my opinion but I cannot see how Elliott and his family cannot be given a public apology. As for explaining it to him, I don't think there is any rational explanation that can be given this child. There is simply no sense in what has happened. Surely though, stretching this out with litigation, court cases etc would be equally as damaging for him? A quick resolution, an admission of stupidity by the school and a heartfelt apology seems to me to be the best option? Do we really want this hanging over a child's head for months, perhaps years before he is allowed to forget it? I understand that feelings run deep and I think that the school acted idiotically but I am sure that Elliott and his family would rather get on with their lives.”

“Ms Adamson
Surely little Elliott's question should have been the ideal opportunity to start a discussion about cultural awareness instead of making a complete and utter fool of yourself”
