“I agree it is shocking, not just because of the horsemeat but also the pork that these burgers contained, this must be upsetting for the Jewish and Muslim communities.
You know how I hate supermarkets and processed food though and horsemeat is probably one of the least abhorrent ingredients in the burgers, MRM meat is listed as beef pork etc and there are few people that would happily consume it.
Purée an onion add ground beef, pork, or turkey a bit of mustard, a few herbs and seasoning shape, refrigerate and cook, easy and you know what your eating!”

“Sensational,
Why will it be a kick in the pants for Tesco? They didn`t make the burgers, they bought them from the supplier in good faith.
I can`t understand what all the fuss is about. Anyone who is prepared to eat processed burgers with all the rubbish they contain cannot complain when they are found to have horse meat in them. We ate horsemeat in this country regularly until not so long ago.”

“Agree flossy. It's hypocritical to object to using horses but to happily eat lamb, veal and chicken who are between 5 and 7 weeks old when they are slaughtered.
Maybe if people feel so strongly about this they should re-think their whole attitude to what they are happy to eat.”

“I thought it might be worth a call for the CD.....
Ring ring... ... ring ring ... ...
Tesco: "Hello, Tesco St. Stephens.....
Me: "Hello is that Tesco at St. Steve's?"
Tesco: "Yes it is yes, which department please?"
Me: "Beefburgers please"
Tesco: "Putting you through... ... ... ... ... ... ... "Hello butcher's?"
Me: "Hello, you know your burgers......?"
Tesco "Er, .... yes?"
Me "Can I have a pound each way on Quarter Pounder and a two pound win on Three For A Pound please?"
Tesco: "CLICK"
Me "Ha"”

“Oh em g-plan. Is THAT why you changed your name Sensational? So you could see that word above everything you post? So we have to use it to address you?
Good grief. That's saying a lot about your self esteem. May I suggest some alternatives:-
1) Dullas
2) godno
3) Mouthbreather”

“If your vegetarian or into cooking I can understand that you make your own - but what is this burger snobbery about?
I enjoy a shop bought burger and shock of horrors I buy mine from tesco and lidl. I bought some Scottish beef burgers the other day and no doubt it had traces of yak, albatross and Moldavian mini pony ... but it was rather nice.
I also blame childhood obesity on the fact that greens pace is not as accessible as it used to be and you cant get on a playing field now cause of the prison fences erected around them. I wouldn't dream of letting my 10 year old in park on his own as we dont bother locking pedophiles up now, we rehabilitate them next to kids play areas .”

“Under European law
the term "meat" is defined as "skeletal muscle with naturally included or adherent fat and connective tissue" which has not been mechanically stripped from the carcass.
Any meat that has been pressure-blasted from the carcass must be listed separately as MRM (mechanically removed) or MSM (mechanically stripped) meat. MRM meat or paste can in theory be used in economy burgers but has to be listed as a separate ingredient.”
“Hot off the press. Tesco beefburgers found to contain high percentages of horsemeat. My personal view is that I am shocked and stunned. Leave your views here please.....”
