Not all crime is about stealing money. What about assaults and murders. How would you calculate an amount then and who do you pay it to?”

“Are you suggesting that anyone convicted of any crime should have this tax imposed on them for the rest of their life? No matter what age or severity of crime?

At the moment we have different punishments relating to how severe the crime is, whether the person pleads guilty or not and how often they've offended. You seem to be suggesting that EVERYONE should have a punishment that lasts a lifetime whether they be a young first time offender, a career criminal or a serial rapist.

I can imagine a situation where a young person who has committed one minor crime could end up thinking "Well if I'm going to be paying for this forever, what's the point in trying to improve my life?"”

"These sorts of suggestions are typical of the general public who think that they can run the country better than the government, but never stop to think their suggestions through."

A rather starnge answer given that these forums exist to expand and explore such suggestions. It was posed as a question.

The criminal justice system costs the country billions every year. Let's say someone has a drink and decides to go and confront an ex partner. They cannot get in to the ex's council owned flat and so kick out at a glass re-inforced panel on a stairwell in frustartion. The panel breaks. The person is witnessed. A criminal damage case is investigated.

Costs: Council to assess and repair the damage. Police to investigate and assemble a file for the CPS. CPS to bring to court with their legal representation. Suspect (on legal aid) has legal representation. Cost of magistrate and supply of staffed courtroom. I would estimate the cost to the taxpayer runs into many thousands of pounds. Cost to the guilty party.. ..£80 fine maybe.
Why shouldn't this person spend a long time paying for the cost of their action? Why should we all pay for it?
I'm certainly not stating that any payback by criminals should off-set any sentencing. I'm merely putting the idea forward that we should all take responsibilty for our actions. Why shouldn't someone who has served a prison sentence pay for their upkeep once released?”

Look at it this way... ...Throughout my life, due to the way I choose to live that life I generate waste. That waste must be dealt with in some way. I pay my local authority via local taxation to deal with my waste for me. Why should criminals be any different in paying for their actions in life?”

    You are clever!

"Under the Proceeds of Crime Act, criminals can have their illegal earnings and possessions taken away even if they are not convicted of the crimes they have committed.

It's up to the criminal themselves to prove they've acquired the cash legitimately. The money will be ploughed back into further asset recovery work to help yet more cash be seized."

Under the Proceeds of Crime Act, offenders can be deprived of any financial benefit of their crimes.
Police officers use confiscation orders to seize high-value items in order to repay any money made.

I think people tend to think that life (and crime) is all black and white but there are an awful lot of grey area`s.
Wozza wants all murderers executed. Would that include the wife who, after years of physical and emotional abuse eventually snaps and kills the husband?
As for us using laws from the 1700`s, yes we probably are but I don`t think you would get hanged for stealing a loaf or deported for stealing a handkerchief anymore.
It would be interesting to see if all the people that are calling for tougher sentences have lead completely blameless lives.
Come on now, own up haven`t any of you ever done anything even slightly dishonest?”

It would be great, when wozza makes statements/claims that he could (or at least try to) back them up.

I don't suppose he even knows what he means by 'laws'. I should imagine that (see what I did there?) that murder was against the law even before 1700 but of course the punishments have changed dramatically. Criminal activities have similar definitions but the Acts that govern how they are to be dealt with have changed over the years.

It's not like I have asked him to provide a precis of 'Banks', I just want a couple of examples.”

I can't see anywhere on the forum where anyone has said it's OK to murder anyone. And as you are using plurals 'lovely judges', 'losers' - you MUST be talking to more than one person.

    “Wozza,
Were you born daft or did you have to practice hard?
    Don`t you understand "grey area`s"?
Is a child that steals sweets the same as a violent thug that burgles a house and beats up an old lady? Ofcourse not. You wouldn`t treat them the same would you, so why expect a child to carry on paying for his `crime` for the rest of his life?
We already have different levels of murder, Murder, Manslaughter, Self Defence, to name some.
If a man hits another man during an arguement and the second then falls and fractures his skull on the kerb and dies, is that the same as some one who hunts down prey and muders them for kicks? I think not.
You really should read the forum properly and at least try to understand what has been written before you charge in throwing insults around. That`s apart from the fact that this forum is about taxing criminals and not another excuse for you to start a rant about how corrupt you think our government is and that you are convinced that you can do a better job.”

Just to add - I work within the criminal justice system and see the costs of the whole complex machine structured in a way that see's the persistent offenders (a very small minority) cost a very large propotion of the total bill.
I'm actually in favour of a move away from incarceration in many circumstances and a shift towards the emphasis of punishment on 'payback' to victims and general society. Prison is an outdated and very expensive (and revengful) option for minor offenders and should be reserved for more serious offences where the offender is a real danger to the community or individual.”

Don't agree about prison. At least when these 'minor' offenders are locked up they give the community that they are preying on a break from their activities for a while. And they have to be very persistent to actually get sent to prison.

And like you, I have experience of working in the system.

Maybe a start would be to make anyone found guilty repay their legal aid ... that might focus their minds when they plead.”

I was going to reply 'make your mind up', but of course you don't have one do you? So how to say this?

Before you were complaining that we were speaking our minds and you didn't like it because we ought to use our photos when we tell you what we think about you.

Now you are saying exactly the opposite and that we 'aint grown up enough' to speak our minds. What exact thoughts do you think we are hiding from you?

If the '2 old ladies' in question are pippa_mia and cara_1951, I'm sure that 'they' will be devastated to hear that you are not going to talk to 'them' again. If it is flossy and me, all I can say is, "Promise?"

And of course you, on the other hand, come across as all sweetness and light.

Especially with your well known and never to be forgotten comments such as BUTT OUT and 'nit picking saddos'.

Even YOU, posting as your (much younger) alter ego, cara_(my brother is a psychologist)_mia admitted "Nit picking saddos was an unfortunate choice of phrase, because clearly everybody was trying to explain to him"

I assumed when wozza demanded our photos so that he could see what we looked like that he meant a RECENT one - not an airbrushed one taken at least 50 years ago. So obviously my challenge to you was to use a recent one too.

    Still waiting for that...

pippa_mia wrote "Anyway, must fly, I have a kettle to boil" Exciting life eh?

When the going gets tuff pippa_mia heads for the kitchen. Yet she should stay out ... Don't they say "If you can't stand the heat etc."

For the record, and I'm sure my stalker is watching my every post

I pick up on people's errors, on the most part, when they have picked up on someone else's or if the story is an education one and they are anti-learning.

For example, going back to my old mate CT007 (who is doing all he can to avoid answering me about these 1700 laws) his dig was at pippa's darling wozza when he wrote that wozza was 'semi literate' and then in the same paragraph wrote 'society as a hole.'

Now if we had written that my stalker would have been down on us like a ton of bricks but somehow at the time she missed it and now she is complaining
that I pulled up CT007 on his h o m ophones when he was calling wozza semi literate.

So what can we conclude from this? Obviously she would rather support CT007's attack on wozza if it meant that she could have another dig at me.

Why does she keep stalking me I wonder? Why does she seem determined to find something to have a go at me about, even if it means stabbing wozza in the back. If she really thought that she was clever (obviously apart from calculating percentages) and was able to outsmart me, she wouldn't be so obsessive.

ps Would you buy a cosmetic item with that photo on the front??????????

I think you misunderstood what I was saying.

This forum was started by amt555 and if wozza comes in and makes comments, then he has as much right to an answer as anyone else. More so when he addresses his comments to one or all of us.

What I don't understand is why you and Apollo bother to answer him on his own forums when, by now, you know what sort of response you will get. Yes I did comment on the boxing one, but to you and Apollo at first and never to him about helping him set up a club. After a week I pointed out to him that he didn't have a venue, reinforcing what you had written.

If 'the sensible posters' ignored his forums, then who else would respond?

Of course the choice is entirely up to you both, but you know that he won't answer Apollo until he apologises and us because we are 'dum and dummer'”

Oh, hadn't you realised after all this time on here? When people start a post addressed to someone else (something that you never do because we are all mindreaders after all) and then put down some words in quotes (perhaps you know them better as direct speech marks?), then they are quoting something that the poster they are addressing has written and then the words after that are their reply.

Or in pippa_mia's case, she just copies and pastes everything.

Do you, in your wildest dreams, think that I would ever write 'i' for 'I' and 'dont' for 'don't' if it was my own words?”

“No...It would just encourage scumbags to steal more to pay thier "Tax"...I'm a bit more old fashioned than the modern day politics that believes every crime can be calculated in ponds, shillings and pence.

PC, liberal, goody two shoes, sandal wearing, mung bean eating, human rights for criminals campaigners look away now.

Child abusers - Death by hanging

    Rapists - Death by hanging.

Murderers (not including self defence) - Death by hanging

Burglery - amputation of one hand and branded "thief" on forehead

Theft - 20 years in 6 x 6 cell, bread and water, no exercise and branded theif on forehead

Assault with intent - 20 years in 6 x 6 cell, bread and water, no exercise

Fraud and deception - Assets and colaterall seized and transferred to victim(s) followed by 20 years in 6 x 6 cell, bread and water, no exercise

Anto social behaviour - 5 years in 6 x 6 cell, bread and water, no exercise

And for anyone who thinks these punishments are too hard, explain in your best reasoning how todays current punishments are working?....They aren't are they! Look at the idiot the other day who killed his two mates by driving twice the speed limit and losing control....6 months jail and banned for 18 months....pathetic.

The above deterants would see crime fall by 90% overnight....a lot more effective than 1p in the pound for scum that don't work anyway.”

“@Flossy. In the victorian times, the population of the country was a good few million less than it is now and the jails nowhere near as big. We have more socially acceptable crimes nowadays (sad but true) were the CPS are throwing criminals out of the arrest system as fast as the police bring them in because of costs.

My vehicle was vandalised by a drunken 15 year old girl for no reason other than "It was a laugh" She was arrested, admitted it and the CPS wrote me a letter saying that they were reluctant to prosecute her due to her young age which would spoil her chances of "getting on in life"

She was a known youth offender with multiple "misdamena's" and has since gone on to more petty crime and assault. Meanwhile I still have a £1000 outstanding loan it cost me to repair my vehicle. Do you think she would have done this if she knew she would lose a hand for criminal damage.

Might sound harsh but as you witness every day, "Crime Does Pay" and decent people like us suffer while picking up the bill. It's an action without consequence society out there and a tough line needs taking.

As far as not being a deterent back then. I think you would find that the re offending rate was way down on todays stats. Back then serious criminals were hung or put away for a very long time, so they had no or very little chance to re offend.

Last year, the re-offending rate was over 70%. That is a frightening stat. We live with the fact that for every scumbag who manages to make it through the system (forget the thousands that they let off due to lack of funding (My cousin is a police Sargeant and has stories that would make your blood boil) 7 out of 10 of these scumbags will come back and make someone else's life a misery.

Unnaceptable in this day and age. Fine, for everyone who lives within the law should have every right we earn. For the pieces of scum who decide they don't want to be part of society...make them pay and make them suffer, and let's face it...For the decent people, life would be so much better.”

    “Wozza,
As far as I`m aware theft of small amounts of money is punished with a fine and compensation. The compensation goes to the victim so they do get their money back.
Huge amounts of monies stolen are regained by selling the offenders assets, thereby repaying the victims once again.
Community service orders are usually given for offences of vandalism and damage to property.
Ofcourse you want petty thieves locked up for 20 years which costs the tax payer enormous amounts of money and no compensation for the victim.

On a another note, I notice your comment earlier on,

1 get a proper account of normal people on these cases , not people who has wasted years at uni ???????????"

Maybe in THAT post - but it wasn't the one I was referring to.

The one I was talking about has been removed 3 times and obviously is no longer there, though I'm sure he'll oblige and put it back. Suitably edited of course.

At the same time that he shows me where I stated that 1700 laws are no longer in use.”

"if my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions"

"Who is using the family braincell at the moment"

Note to myself. When CT007's posts don't make sense - it will be a quote. Probably from Black Adder or maybe Pulp Fiction.

In fact when CT007 posts, it will be a quote from something.

Not an original idea in his head. lol.”

“Oh dear Imagine_that regarding your comment to pippa1951, your delusional state appears to be getting worse by the minute as you are now referring to statements which have never occurred! Perhaps you would like to repost the missing post so we can all read this alleged typo?

This is clearly an advanced case argumentalism sociopathic syndrome I will let our fellow bloggers guess the acronym for this syndrome and suggest you stop making an, (insert acronym), of yourself...lol;-)”

"P.S. I made a few typo's for you to correct have fun;-)"

Yet CT007's previous post to that was one he made on March 11th.

Surely he didn't leave it 14 days between posting the March 11th one and coming back on the 25th to comment about the typos?

Now either he left it for 14 days or the post he made just before the P.S. one was removed.

As for reposting the missing post CT007 - it was your post. How can I repost it?”
