“Broughs a bigger station and not in the middle of nowhere which gives people more options. Makes perfect sense.”

“There no plans to electrify the bridge. Electrification stops at Selby for some strange reason.”

“Why does it make perfect sense? If you are going to Howden than you get off there no matter where the station is and if you are travelling on then it still doesn't matter where the station is as long as there are buses to meet it.”

“If you run the Howden Selby loop you are on Busses less and at least you have the benefit of Rail for a larger part of thre Journey.”

“If the Bridge is to be electrified in future there is no point closing it twice, so anything that can be done in this closure towards electrifiction spec should be done to keep the line open longer in the future”

“Why not build a temporary station/platform just outside Selby behind or near BOCM, there is plenty of waste land to use and then allow people a 5-10 minute walk to the station to catch on-going trains to West Yorkshire and Manchester.
It's not difficult to build a temporary platform (Finningly Airshow anyone?) and it would be far more efficient than using buses.
Howden is a non-starter in my opinion due to the lack of car parking capacity. If trains were run to Selby, using a temporary halt, everybody can catch the train at exactly the same station they use today.
I suppose a temporary footbridge over the river would be too much to ask, but a little exercise never hurt anyone.”

    “Mikeepb

Good sugestion hope it works but I suspect a none starter on cost grounds.Parking at Howden is only for 3/4 busses.Wressle misses out even more as even less space to turn Busses.”

“My question of "Why does it make perfect sense?" was directed at Blakey. Why do people need options?
Car parking at Brough and /or Howden ....... why would extra be needed, the station is only being used as a changeover point? Surely cars can be parked in their usual places ie Selby, Brough, Hull. To me, Howden would make more sense.”

    “Couple of questions regarding Howden,

    1) Where would buses park/stop/wait whilst loading and unloading passengers or waiting for trains? I'm not sure on the exact number of passengers a train holds these days, but I think we'd be looking at 4-5 busses minimum?
    2) Where would the buses turn round?

I don't use the trains very often these days from Howden, but if I did, I'd be asking the questions and pushing for the temporary platform idea I've suggested above. If enough people make a noise about it, it could happen. From memory, and now looking on Google Maps, it should be quite easily done in the area opposite the allotments, where from memory, the bridge operator/signal man used to park their car?”
