“they don't have a monopoly. The other companies choose not to compete because it would cost too much for the number of customers they would attract.

    However Connexin are in Hull

In May 2008 the "Review of the wholesale broadband access markets" report published by Ofcom determined that KC was not acting in a way that would keep out rival companies, and that pricing for wholesale broadband and access to local-loop unbundling was within the market range. The main reason cited by rivals for not providing services in the Hull area was rather one of overall cost effectiveness, given the relatively small number of potential customers (190,000 homes), and the fact that many of these would be likely to remain with the incumbent supplier.

I also believe that work is being done to make it easy for other companies to compete”

“All these fed up KC customers are falling over themselves to sign that petition.

Broadband suppliers like Sky, Talk Talk, Plusnet only have an agreement with BT to supply their services on their lines, they don't offer their services on anyone elses lines such as KC's or Virgin's.

That just how the industry works, it's not KC's doing ...or Virgin's on their lines.”

“KC is no more a monoploy than BT is in teh rest of the UK where they own the lines.

The reason there is no choice falls squarley on the other ISP's.

I suggest you petition them and show them that there is a demand.

I'm sure Sky Talk Talk BT Virgin and the rest would be positivly beside themselves with excitement at the prospect of 5 people (true at time of typing).”

“Well, I only linked to it, I agree with the sentiment. My friend over the river pays £40 less than we do for our phone, TV and broadband. If there's no choice for the customer it's surely a monopoly.”

“"If there's no choice for the customer it's surely a monopoly."

Not really and you can use Connexin so there is a choice, plus all the mobile tariffs.

But even if there was NO choice, it's hardly KC's fault is it if the other companies don't want to compete? What do you think the government can/will do about it?”

    “TheMarketX

Read the forum rules have you?

By a rule of thumb, if you have to manipulate a word to get it through the censorship software - it's against forum rules.

I have already told you - there is a company called Connexin in Hull offering broadband services so it isn't a monopoly.

And Ofcom have investigated - and KC isn't a monopoly.

Can I suggest that if using KC is so abhorrent to you, why not move 15 miles away and have the choice that is so important to you. You know the old saying, if the mountain won't come to Mohamed, Mohamed will go to the mountain.

ps If the 7 posters commenting on here were to sign the petition, you'd have 15 signatures.

    Hope this helps.”

at this rate the time scale has moved to 1096 years. So at least we all get a millenium party before KC's "monopoly is discussed in parliment.”
