“Dont forget some over weight people are like that due to some medical conditions ,how ever no one stuffed a fag into a persons face and forced them to smoke but they still get medical treatment with no questions, same as people who drink to much no one forces a drink down their throats but again get medical treatment.
Having said that i find it offencive when you see a fat person stuffing a meat pie in their faces then complaining about not getting help.
Or some one in a wheel chair coughing and spluttering then lighting a fag up that really bugs me.”

“Flossy really cannot be argued with, if people work and pay tax, they are entitled to the N.H.S.
I do believe though that it is serious neglect not to feed your children properly, a consenting adult knows that if they are living on a diet of pizza, burger , chips and coke it is not healthy but to give a child a diet like that is abuse. What we are seeing now is the tip of the iceberg, the N.H.S will be overrun with obesity related illness in the next ten years.
All processed foods, fizzy drinks etc should have an added tax to contribute to the strain of the health services. These foods should be a rare treat for convenience not part of anyone's staple diet.”

    “GuyCandy,

I`m certainly not agreeing with you.

It depends on what you class as fat. Do you mean the over weight, clinically obese or morbidly obese?
I know of two women that we would call `curvy` but were classed as clinically obese when doctors used the BMI way of calculating it.

The morbidly obese, in my opinion have serious psychological problems. Why else would anyone let themselves get so big that they cannot get out of bed?
Mental illness is as serious as physical illness.”

Not only is it unhealthy, it's also unsightly.

“A friend of mine had a BMI of about 30 (I assume) yet she insisted that she didn't over eat.

I hardly recognised her after not seeing her for a few months as she had lost a massive amount of weight. Turned out she had an underactive thyroid and once she was diagnosed and put on medication, the weight just dropped off her.

I am not saying that applies to everyone who is over weight by any means, but sometimes it is a medical issue.”

You`re not really interested in the cost of treating fat people, you just want them removed from the streets because you find them offensive.

    Very compassionate.”

    “flossy,
Where did I ever claim to be compassionate?

Compassion goes out of the window when you see these huge behemoths straining to walk down the street with their fat children in tow, thereby ensuring that the next generation will follow in their flabby footsteps.

They obviously have no respect for themselves, so how can they expect any respect from anyone else. Personally, I like to shout abuse at some of them. Nothing strikes home better than some well timed abuse, especially when you see one of these lumps coming out of Greggs, tucking into a big bag of sausage rolls, when you call them a fat b******d, seeing them struggle to get a reply out whilst emitting a spray of crumbs is hilarious :)”

Your attitude towards people is dreadful, being obese is not enjoyable and I doubt there are many overweight people who enjoy being so big. It may be easier for a fat person to lose weight than a nasty vitriolic person to become pleasant.”

You can't justify being cruel by saying that people being nice is creating problems.

    “bt13'
I can honestly say that with the exception of a bottle of ketchup and H.P, we do not eat any processed food. One of the reasons is because as a young married couple with a mortgage and child, we really couldn't afford to eat anything but meals cooked from scratch, I used to plan out the weeks meals then shop accordingly, our cupboards and fridge contained what we needed for the week and no more.As babies and toddlers the children ate all the same food as us.This is 29 years ago and processed food was not as prolific or as cheap as it is now.
We are now in a much different financial position but processed food tastes of salt and chemicals to us, we do love good fish and chips though, and there has been some weight gain due to the amount of wine we drink ! This is being addressed !”

Fat people develop premature diabetes, grind their knees and hips to Burger King fodder in their forties, have premature high blood pressure... and you, as a concerned citizen, have no idea?

I really like your posts, in general, in fact I'm I'm a bit disappointed that you've not responded to my posts, but that's no big deal. I think highly of you as someone who posts what she really thinks.

But, honestly, obesity has been trumpeted for some time as a major drain on medical resources. Is it possible that fat Brits are somehow immune to the ails that befall obese Yanks? Be prepared to publish facts... actually, from what I've seen, Britain is catching up with America in the obesity department, and in part for the same reasons--working more hours, grabbing a BK instead of a sauteed fish fillet at home. I reflect on my Anglo/Irish ancestors waddling around, wheezing and lying in nursing home beds for years. Can't just be something in the soil here...”
