“Imagine_that,
Yeah I moved a few months ago when I found out I could use my union to get a special rate. Initially it was lower but now I've gone from being £100+ in credit to being in debit and my monthly payments are now going to increase.
I don't know if it's because fuel prices have gone up but it's a bit annoying to go through the faff of moving and then think I'll have to do it again because I've suspiciously razzed through over £100 worth of fuel.
Same sort of thing happened last time I moved. I really can see the point of being very Martin Lewis about it - swapping and changing to keep ahead of the charges but I honestly don't have the time or the inclination.
Which is why I try not to spend too much time moaning about it!”

“Jenoh
I moved and it activated last month, but as you say, they are all as bad as each other.
There are TV programmes (Rip Off Britain for example) and advice from the government for us to save hundreds of pounds by moving suppliers, but it's just a smokescreen to distract us from the fact that the energy companies are calling the tune and the government can't do a thing about it.
I have gone to OVO. They only have 2 tafi*** and one of them is a green one and a lot more expensive. I've also gone for a direct debit for the first time because OVO pay 3% interest on credit balances. Wouldn't have moved without that.
Never thought to check with the NUT.
It's the same with insurance companies. They offer a good deal when you first go to them then craftily hike the premiums up in the next year or two. And I'm not talking about special cheap first years deals either.
And banks that offer a good interest rate on ISAs (say) and then sneakily drop it after so many months and expect you to realise and move your money to the latest one.
These days 'loyalty' is spelt M U G.”

Have you thought that, with all the tafi***, it might not be as simple as that?
You can go onto one of those comparison sites and put in your useage for the previous year, and they will bring up the cheapest tariff for you based on that but that might not be the cheapest tariff for me.

Give it a go and let me know the results.
And if you threaten to leave your supplier, they may just come back with a better deal for you. It's worth a go.”

“wozza, weren't British Gas the cheapest last time you started a thread on this subject? (I hope so cos that's who I'm with!)
It seems fairly clear that you should be with British Gas. They seem to be the best for your needs even if you have had to find out the information for yourself!”

“Wouldn`t that be the same as Morrisons saying "Morning Fresh Washing up liquid 92p but at Poundland you can get 2 for £1".”
