“Cameron should be asking why the EU development bank gave an 80 million Euro loan to Ford to modernise a factory outside of the EU (Turkey) only for Ford to close their factory inside the EU at Southampton at the cost of 500 jobs. The hole thing reeks of corruption, typical EU really.”

“steveodore - enlighten me please. Why was the vote on the EU budget a 'non binding vote'. Is there such a thing? If it was I'm surprised that it was taken by MPs so seriously and if there is such a thing what a complete waste of time and a further illustration of how useless party politics are.”

“ghostwriter69 - thank you for the pointer. However, I cannot really accept "He can go to Brussels and say: Look, the British parliament has demanded a budget cut but all I'm asking for is a freeze: I am being as reasonable and accommodating as possible." from Ogaza. Who is he to make such an interpretation on Parliamentry procedure? I have to admit that I will not be surprised if Cameron fails to get a reduction in the budget, but if he doesn't and then doesn't use the veto, he will never get my vote again.”

“"...summit of Eu leaders scheduled for later this month may have to be scrapped because of David Cameron's threat to veto an inflation-busting increase in the Brussel's budget." Daily Express.
g69 - Yes, I was in Cameron's constituency before moving back to Hull.. I was using 'vote' in the general sense meaning 'support'.
I see that the veto does not apply to the e7b that the EU want to fill the hole in the current budget and to bget it, it would only need for a majority of the members to vote for it. But at the summit that will vote for the 14/15 seven year budget a veto wil work. It seems that the Germans are now losing their rag and want us out of the EU. Good news.
I can understand that some on this forum find that having to pay Eurocrats £500 per UK household is not a serious matter, but I certainly do.”

Well if you are living in Hull then Cameron won't lose any sleepless nights worrying about your vote. The only voters they care about are those in marginal constituancies and then only around election time.
You seem to be of the misbelief (common with many posters) that our opinions on here actually matter. Maybe we are all not jumping up and down on here about this £500 because whatever we post won't change a thing.”

“I`m sure, if we put it to the vote on the forum, the majority of us would want to come out of the EU and object strongly to the amount of money we, the tax payer, is giving away year on year.
But if Cameron thinks he knows best and wants to do things his way, there`s not a lot we can do until the next election.”
“The debate in Parliament on the EU budget resulted in a majority of MPs voting for a reduction of the budget in real terms.
Surely this means that the Government, (Cameron), does not have any option other than to carry out parliament's wishes and not, as has been suggested, 'reach a deal' ?”
