“I cannot believe you make your viewing habits public. If I watched the trash that you watch, I would do everything I could to keep it quiet.”

“How can it be trash if you've never seen it? The fact that you've not seen it makes you unable to contradict. If you have seen it it makes you a hypocrite in my eyes. The sets are breathtaking, the acting has been wonderful and the storyline has been excellent. I bet there'll be many awards won by this excellent drama and I am hooked. I shall be purchasing the DVD in time to come. And i thought period dramas were for hypocrites and contradictories...”

“Is there a special name for people who watch trashy telly?

If you want to watch intelligent, real life period drama, try `Call the Midwife` suberb viewing in my opinion.”

“Best channel for drama is BBC4 in my opinion, The Killing, The Bridge, Borgen and now Spiral.

Not watched Mr Selfridge so i can't comment on that, seems like it's getting good reviews though.”

Agree about the shows you have listed. Loved The Bridge but it ended in such a way that it seems that there won't be another series.”

“Very rare i watch telly (especially this sort of thing) but I've found it to be compulsive. I've deliberately not looked at the reviews so am glad that it's getting good vibes. Anyway, I'm glad I gave it more than twenty minutes of the first episode before i made my mind up.”

“I think it's bewitching and beguiling. I shan't be put off by someone who switches off after a few moments. Perhaps, had the right honourable member given it a few episodes before the comment I might have taken the negativity on board. As i say, Frances O'Connor alone makes it worthwhile. Can't wait for Sunday!”

“I don't know how anyone who wasn't sitting with me while I was watching the programme knows how long I actually spent watching it. But not only do they think they know - they make 3 posts about it.

Twenty minutes was it? (first post) Or was it 'a few moments' ? (second post)

And he knows this how ...?

It's amazing how people get so het up on here about other people's viewing habits. Did I say I'd recorded it first? LOL.”

“You say you don't watch much TV.....really?

You're always banging on about some trash or the other, or who's going to win some mind numbing programme that is your latest fad.

The rule I set myself when it comes to TV is, if it's on ITV it isn't worth watching”

“Apparently you 'started to watch then switched it off' I made an educated guess at a 'few moments' which is a few seconds to perhaps twenty minutes. Just seems to me that you couldn't know in such a short time. My educated guess is that you are watching it with much gusto but because the person who makes your skin crawl is watching it you deem it to now be trite and hackneyed. This helps hopefully.”

“Agree - by a rule of thumb anything on ITV is not worth watching.

And don't think you are so important to me Mr DJ that I come on and rubbish the things that you watch, just for the sake of it. I come on and rubbish the things that you watch because they are rubbish.

But it's strange how other posters on this thread have also rubbished this programme and you haven't responded to any of them. Only me.

Oh, and did I tell you that I recorded it first AND fast forwarded over the adverts?”

“A person that watches dustbin tv is a 'Trashy'. I like The Chase. Isn't that on ITV?”
