“I also went to Blacksmith's at Coniston not too long ago and had scampi and chips.
The scampi was pale and soggy, it obviously hadn't been cooked for long enough.
I wasn't impressed, however my wife had steak and she found that spot on.
The new owners appear to be trying hard to build up the business there but unfortunately they had no facility to pay with a debit card so if you're passing and don't have cash on you it's a none starter, unless they have had chip and pin installed since I was there.
It's quite local to me so I'll probably give it another go.”

“Wozza is a busy man clearly. He had all that time off over Christmas and New Year, his batteries are charged and he's ready to go.
I do think it could be Pippa ( Madame is not necessary poor woman must be sick of all the jibes and nobody deserves all that) it could also be me or even both of us!
I know who won't be there though, I couldn't imagine sitting through dinner or lunch with someone looking for poor table manners, ready to pounce and attack.
I genuinely hope the food thread continues, I love hearing about people's dining experiences.”

“Miss Foodlove In this instance, Wozza appears to more interested in 'treading' his bird than eating hence the wow wow wow. I wonder if that will be before or after his cow on a plate. (His words not mine.) The post was copied from his other food thread.
I wonder what Mrs Wozza thinks about this?
His 'bird' must be a real tease! I wonder who she is?”

"Despite what some posters think perhaps you're not a raging sexist, as you obviously treat Mrs Wozza too!"
What has being a 'sexist' (or not) got to do with paying for his wife's meal?
Obviously she doesn't work (as wozza doesn't agree with 'birds' working) so wozza is going to have to pay for them both.
"I do think it could be Pippa ( Madame is not necessary poor woman must be sick of all the jibes and nobody deserves all that) "
There are a few posters on here who don't agree with you on that. Pippa_1951 came onto these forums guns blazing calling everyone 'nit picking saddos' and it went downhill after that. She doesn't have to keep hurling abuse at people, but she chooses to do so. You are supposed to be preaching peace on these forums yet you have never addressed your comments to her and now you are starting to defend her.
Certainly Food_for_Thought there. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm”

“sorry that should be 'table', I MUST start wearing my reading glasses on these threads.
However once again, I think you are being very rude to wozza assuming has anything but perfect table manners. Unless I am doing you an injustice of course and you are referring to yourself.”

“Inthedogshed,
Sorry you got the wrong end of the stick, my reference was not to Wozza's manners but to the way some people on this site correct punctuation, grammar etc!
I was brought up to never point out any mistakes and I do try to abide by that with the exception of my three children!”

"I was brought up to never point out any mistakes "
Not pointing out mistakes wouldn't have done me any favours in my teaching career.
However
My parents brought me up not to swear and would be horrified if I'd written:
"Pre menstrual sad ***ch ?
Petty minded sad ***ch"
Luckily I didn't, YOU did.”

“Missfoodlove,
How would anyone learn if their mistakes were never pointed out?
Mis spelling words can alter the meaning of a sentence completely and if it was my mistake I would be grateful that someone took the time and trouble to point it out to me. Some people don`t know how to take constructive criticism and think it`s ok to write nonsense.”

“Imagine_that,PMSB was at the end of a post you wrote concerning me.
Jenoh asked what it maybe an acronym for. I suggested a few things, I was suggesting what you had meany by PMSB i.e what you were calling me.
As a teacher of course you should correct mistakes, socially however it is not etiquette.”

“wozza,
As it is clear to any reader on here you are a complete gastronome, so I am sure you will be aware of it anyway, but can I recommend to you the soup in a basket at Dog and Duck at Walkington.
Just go in and ask the bar staff for it. If you tell them Harryoffdock sent you, you might get a discount and an extra friendly smile. Bon appetit.”

The first time I used 'pmsb' on that thread was in reply to Maz666 and I was agreeing with her, so obviously it isn't aimed at the individual poster as such.
I am sorry if you really thought that I would call you the suggestions that you put, and in fact I thought that you were calling me those names.
Just goes to show how easy it is to upset other posters.”

“Wozza you seem to be pushing the boat out a bit, all these meals out! Despite what some posters think perhaps you're not a raging sexist, as you obviously treat Mrs Wozza too!
Or maybe she treats you, are you a kept man?”
