Breaking news: Staff member suspended from school in Bridlington

12:30 - 15-May-2008

A member of the teaching staff has been suspended from Headlands School in Bridlington.

The Mail understands a female member of staff is being investigated about inappropriate text messages sent to a male pupil.

East Riding Council has refused to go into any details about the nature of the allegations.

But in a statement today it said: “A member of staff at an East Riding school is currently suspended pending an investigation.

“We will not be making any further statement until the investigation has concluded.”

Philip Holmes, assistant director for children and young people services, added: “The school has acted swiftly and appropriately to deal with this issue.”

The suspension comes a few weeks after the publication of a report into teacher/pupil relationships at the school from 1991-2004.
