Head's tribute to dead ex-pupil
07:00 - 30-April-2008
Mick Westerdale, headteacher of the school in Hopewell Road, said the 18-year-old man had an “abundance of potential”.
He said: “I am shocked and saddened at the news of Lewis's tragic death. Lewis was always a live wire at school and had an abundance of potential in all areas of school life, from which he could build.
“To lose such a young life is always devastating to me and my thoughts and prayers at this time are with Lewis's family and friends, many of whom still attend the school.”
Lewis was found dead at a flat in Batley Close, east Hull, on Saturday.
An ambulance crew was called to a flat at about 10am on Saturday, after reports a man had suffered a heart attack.
They found the body of a man, with no external injuries.
He is understood to have been staying there after a night out.
Police today refused to confirm reports Lewis may have died as a result of a drugs overdose as a post mortem had not been carried out by the coroner.
A man and woman were initially arrested as the death was being treated as suspicious, but later released on police bail.
The death has put the future of a documentary on obesity involving the Duchess of York and an east Hull family into doubt.
The woman who remains on bail is understood to have been Terri Sargerson, who, along with her parents Tonia and Mick Sargerson, was taking part in a documentary where Sarah Ferguson acted as a lifestyle coach.
