Launch of Talent Trail 2010 in Hull

Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 06:30

Budding music stars can enjoy their moment in the spotlight by entering the Mail's Talent Trail 2010.

Now in its 14th year, the competition is officially launching today, with the organisers looking for the next big act on Hull's music scene.

Heats will be held twice a week, starting on either February 16 or February 23, before the acts are whittled down.

The cream of the crop will then compete in the semi-finals on April 20, 22, 27 and 29, before the Grand Final at Hull City Hall.

The winner will receive the Talent Trail trophy and a prize of £1,500.

The runner-up prize is £750 and the third-placed act will walk away with £250.

Today, the Mail publishes an entry form for people to fill in if they want the chance to take away the top prize.

This year's event is sponsored by Devilfishpoker.com – run by Hull-born poker player Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott.

He said: "I only sign the cheque – the real credit goes to the organisers and the Mail, who put a lot of effort into the competitions.

"But it's great to help these people achieve their dreams."

Talent Trail will begin in clubs across Hull, where the heats and semi-finals are held, before moving for the final at Hull City Hall on Thursday, May 13.

See today's Mail for your entry form.
