Fans of blockbuster phenomenon Star Wars can expect to "feel the force" of the iconic movies in concert next year.

Star Wars: In Concert comes to Sheffield Arena on Wednesday, March 10, as part of its worldwide tour, bringing a high-octane mix of multimedia and music together to recreate the Star Wars adventure on stage.

Producer Spencer Churchill, said."The show is a new way of experiencing the epic score of the saga."

The concert does not play all six films in the sci-fi saga back-to-back, but takes audiences on a symphonic journey through all of the highlights of the Star Wars story in chronological order – from the first legendary image of Darth Vader's star destroyer spaceship to the eventual defeat of the evil empire.

Pivotal scenes from the films will be screened alongside orchestral music from the films' classic soundtrack.

The score for the award-winning series was composed by John Williams, who has written music for a multitude of best-selling films including the Harry Potter series, Superman and Jaws.

George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars saga, said: "The whole soundtrack is a testament to John Williams' creativity and his extraordinary ability to enhance the emotional aspects of the film."

Williams' score for the space opera proved to be just as much of a hit as the movie itself, and even those who haven't seen the films will recognise the memorable title theme, one of the most well-known compositions in modern music history.

Williams said: "Creating the music for the Star Wars films has been an exciting and wonderful experience for me, and I therefore have derived particular pleasure in assembling a compendium of themes from all of the films to be presented in Star Wars: In Concert."

Williams' music will be performed live by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the concert, in front of a three-story-tall, high-definition screen.

The show will also include live narration by Anthony Daniels – the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all six films.

Star Wars: In Concert arrives at Sheffield Arena, Broughton Lane, Sheffield, on Wednesday, March 10, at 7pm. Tickets are priced from £30 to £65. To book call (0114) 2565656.
