Movie to boost Star Trek - Nimroy

The Star Trek franchise will be given a boost by the new movie of the sci-fi hit, according to its star Leonard Nimoy.

"This movie is the resurrection of Star Trek and I mean that very sincerely," he told E!Online.

"I think that Star Trek had drifted along and meandered and maybe lost its way somewhat in the last few years and I think this picture is going to put it back on track.

The star, who plays the older Spock in the film, added: "I think it's going to revive interest in the entire franchise, the Star Trek story, the Star Trek idea. And I think above all it's going to be a very exciting movie."

The movie is directed by Alias creator JJ Abrams and stars newcomer Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Heroes star Zachary Quinto as the young Spock.

"It's going to be very unexpected, so I think young people who might have preconceived notions of what Star Trek is or what Star Trek was, are going to be surprised," said Zachary.
