Have fun with your hair by adding crazy colours

Crazy colours have been in and out of fashion over the years. Pastel pink, neon purple or electric blue hair is starting to become a huge trend in hair styling, thanks to celebs such as Katy Perry, Jessie J and Rihanna. It's cute, fun and will definitely get you a lot of attention.

If you fancy trying a different colour, there are a few ways you can go about it. Using extensions to change your colour is a no-hassle way of trying a new look without commitment. You can buy coloured extensions in many colours and can go as drastic or as subtle as you like. I would suggest trying a few streaks of colour before adding longer extensions. If you like what you see, the next stage would be to colour your hair permanently.

As with all permanent colours, I would always recommend you visit your local salon. Your stylist will be ensure the necessary skin and strand tests are done before going ahead with the treatment. If your hair is dark, your stylist will probably need to pre-lighten your colour before adding the colour you want to go. This is a tricky process and needs to be done with precision and care. The crazy colour then goes over the pre-lightened hair.

Katy Perry loves to experiment with her colour. Here, her smooth pastel pink style is very kitsch and suits her personality perfectly.

To get this look, start by spraying Big Blow Thicker Fuller Spray through towel dried hair and blow drying with a large round brush. Rotate the brush through your hair to create volume, body and movement.

When all of your hair is dry, spray sections of hair with Heat Protection Spray and wrap spirally around the barrel of a Magic Wand. Hold for a few seconds and unwind. Immediately wind the curl back on itself and secure with a pin curl clip. Do this through the rest of your hair. Doing this gives a modern spin on the old-fashioned roller set.

When all of your hair is cooled, remove the clips. Add a little back- combing to the top section and roll the very front section under, securing with fine pins and grips. If you don't feel comfortable with this extreme fringe, you can simply smooth your hair back.
