SEEING what is happening to my old team Bradford City has made me want to get back into football even more.

I applied for the vacant Lincoln City job this week and hope to find out soon if I've got it or not.

Mentor: Dean Windass with Colin Todd

I've got my head sorted out now and I'm ready to get back into the game.

I've applied for six or seven jobs in the last three years and I am prepared to start in the lower leagues just as Paul Ince did when he joined Macclesfield who were bottom of League Two in 2006.

It's like being a footballer, you have to believe in your own ability. I did that as a player and I'll do that as a manager. My focus now is on football and Lincoln would be the ideal place to start.

I learned a lot when I was assistant manager to Colin Todd at Darlington and I can take that into any job I get.

As a player you don't know much about what happens behind the scenes at a football club but I have since discovered that a lot happens that you don't know about.

It takes up a lot of your time but I love being out on the training pitch with the players.

I have a lot of advice I can pass on to young players.

If I don't get the Lincoln job there will always be a job come available and hopefully sooner or later I can land one.

• I HAVE to sympathise with Hull City fans who are being told to travel to Huddersfield by official club coaches or not at all.

That is a disgrace to me. I know Hull City fans who live in Huddersfield. What are they supposed to do? Drive to Hull, leave their cars there, get on a coach and go back to where they have just come from? How are they going to get their cars which are back in Hull? It's going to cost about an extra £70 in fuel making a pointless journey to Hull and back.

“Any professional football club who would entrust their team and youth to Windass would be reckless. He may be considered as some form of coaching assistant, but manager, not a chance. This is his problem, he convinces himself he is capable of more than he is actually ready for and when it does not come through or goes pear-shaped, so does he. Someone needs to be close as he is heading for another fall. I feel for him, but their is a reality in life.”
