Major shopping schemes are coming under the scrutiny of planners today.

East Riding Council's planning committee will consider plans for developments at three strategic sites in Driffield.

They include plans for the redevelopment of the cattle market and Viking Centre sites as well as a new Tesco.

Planning officers are recommending that the schemes should be deferred and delegated for approval subject to legal agreements being agreed.

The planning meeting is being held at County Hall, Beverley, at 2pm.

“And when the planning committee have finished with that little lot they¿ve promised to look at the issue of getting the town hooked up to the gas and electric but running water will have to go on the next agenda.”

“Just get on with it - all the sites in question are an eyesore. This has dragged on for years.”
