The distraught parents of a missing teenager are appealing for information about a person that could be involved in his disappearance.

The parents of 18-year-old Russell Bohling say facts emerging about the mystery point to him not having acted alone.

And Roger and Christine Bohling, of West Ella, near Kirk Ella, are convinced that their son is being prevented from letting them know he is alright.

It is now two weeks since Russell vanished and his parents want his friends and acquaintances to think very carefully who could be with him.

Mr Bohling, 57, said: "If Russell had gone off willingly he would have contacted us or a friend to say he is alright, but that is not the case.

"He is somebody who does not like trouble and will be upset and anxious, and very worried that he can't make contact and return home.

"It is just not like Russell to leave people hanging on and we are starting to fear the worst, as parents would."

The Bishop Burton College student, who has a speech and language disorder, has been described as vulnerable and was last seen on Tuesday, March 2.

His blue Renault Clio was found abandoned the next day 45 miles away from his home at Bempton Cliffs, near Bridlington.

But the car had clocked 471 miles and was almost full of fuel - despite being filled with diesel on the Monday night and the mileometer set to zero.

Russell had filled the car with the help of his mother, and because they were monitoring its performance she asked him to reset the mileometer and recalls seeing it return to zero.

Mr Bohling said: "The unexplained miles and the amount of fuel in the car shows Russell could not have been acting alone.

"He did not have enough money on him to travel around 400 miles and leave the car with the tank almost full.

"I'm convinced he met up with somebody he knew by prior arrangement, perhaps on the college car park, but did not suspect what was going to happen."

Russell's family are also appealing to filling station owners to check CCTV footage for a blue Clio being filled up.

Mr Bohling added: "The likelihood is that the person who met up with Russell and filled the car with fuel is somebody in his life.

"He doesn't text, doesn't use the phone or do emails, so its most likely somebody he physically meets and trusts."

Russell is about 5ft 8in tall, of medium build, with short, brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black Ben Sherman jacket, blue jeans and black leather trainers.

Information about his disappearance to the police on 0845 6060222.
