Cazals: 'Forget we know Pete Doherty'
09:52 - 07-May-2008
Ahead of the release of their debut album What Of Our Future – released on Monday, May 26 – they want to make the big time on the quality of their material, not because of column inches in Heat magazine.
“We get on really well with Pete Doherty and all the members of Babyshambles,” says singer Phil, who is relaxing ahead of the band's latest tour. “They've really helped us by letting us tour with them, but we want to be seen as The Cazals and stand on our own two feet.
“You search on the Internet and the first things that appear is the fact we're mates with the band, not that we've played in front of 12,000 people in Japan supporting Daft Punk and have an album coming out.”
The band, who release their debut album under French label Kitsune, will be showcasing their new album at Welly Club tomorrow.
Phil said: “I'm looking forward to hitting the road again, especially performing an album that we've worked so hard to produce and one that I, personally, love. It'll be good coming back to Hull after playing at The Lamp in March. Apart from the chance for people to hear tracks from our album we also plan on meeting up with The Paddingtons and having a beer.”
The band release the single Somebody, Somewhere on Monday.
