Talent Trail girls in fine voice >video
The Trades and Labour Club in Beverley Road played host to an all-female line-up in the second semi-final of Talent Trail 2009.
They were competing for a place in the grand final, to be held at Hull City Hall on May 20.
And judges were impressed by one of the strongest nights of the competition.
North Hull songstress Serena Williams won with a stunning set including a song from Sunset Boulevard, Who Knew? by Pink and My Way by Frank Sinatra.
Serena said: "The competition was tough and everyone performed very well. I was more nervous because it was an all-girl line-up. You worry about what to wear and I was glad I chose to do something a bit different."
Serena will be joined in the final by 16-year-old Danielle Walters. The Cottingham High School pupil was one of the youngest entrants into this year's Talent Trail and sang flawless versions of songs by Queen and Whitney Houston.
Danielle said: "I was at school a couple of hours ago and I'll be at school in the morning.
"I'm tired, but it's worth it."
The audience thought Serena and Danielle were the only two through – but there was a Talent Trail surprise as 28-year-old Amanda Gallacher finished joint-second.
The supply teacher impressed judges with songs by Lulu, Liza Minnelli and Alexandra Burke.
Also in the semi-final – sponsored by devilfishpoker.com – were Cherie Lawrence, Kelly Marie, Katy Beadle, Brooke Knight and Paige.
