Thursday, November 26, 2009, 14:55

NHS Hull has agreed to team up with Hull FC and Hull KR in a bid to improve standards of health across the city.

The clubs will receive a share of £1m for health and lifestyle services such as weight management support, smoking cessation and NHS health checks.

The plans were widely debated at an NHS Hull board meeting this afternoon before the plans were given the go ahead.

The move will see £700,000 invested in creating a new centre at Hull FC's old ground, the Boulevard.

The club will also use the Boulevard for training, relocating from Brantingham Park in Elloughton.

It will continue to use the KC Stadium for home matches.

NHS Hull is also investing £300,000 in setting up health and lifestyle facilities at Hull KR's Craven Park ground in east Hull as part of an expansion of the East Stand.
