Clough Road to reopen after flood

Thursday, July 02, 2009, 13:08

Clough Road, in north Hull, is due to re-open on Saturday after a burst water main forced emergency repairs.

Council officers were confronted by a 15ft long by 15ft deep hole when they went to survey the damage last Thursday.

Because of the severe flooding in the area, the full extent of the damage was not clear until later.

Richard Townend, Highways manager for Hull City Council, said: "When we first saw the job we thought it would take a lot longer than this.

"But with the help of Yorkshire Water and the patience of the public it has been brought in ahead of time."

Finishing touches to the road will be completed late on Friday night.
