High School Musical star living high life

AN EAST Yorkshire teenager is living the high life after starring in the one of the year's most eagerly anticipated films.

Jemma McKenzie-Brown, 14, of Beverley, is currently in the US promoting the release of Disney's latest spectacular High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

She was chosen from more than 30 actresses from across the USA and UK to play the part of Tiara Gold.

She attended the UK premier of the film with her mother Jayne on Tuesday, where she received the red carpet treatment.

Her mother described the event as "nerve-wracking".

She said: "When we were getting out of the car Jemma said to me 'people won't know who I am'.

"She was in for a shock as straight away people were asking her for autographs.

"On the red carpet Gordon Ramsay even said hello to me.

"I have felt that I had needed to pinch myself at times."

Jemma spent three-and-a-half months in filming in Salt Lake City earlier this year, but Mrs Brown said she had not let her new-found fame go to her head.

She said: "With the filming finished and the promotional work being done Jemma has absolutely loved the whole experience and done really well.

"She hasn't let the role change her though. She is still my little girl and has kept her feet firmly on the ground."

High School Musical 3: Senior Year opens in cinemas across the UK on October 22.
