Tigers stars in casino brawl
The players were involved in a scuffle at the Opera House Casino in Scarborough at about 3am yesterday.
The fight made headline news in today’s Sun newspaper, which claimed the pair had to be pulled apart by team-mates.
It is alleged King, who joined City on loan from Wigan before the start of the Premier League season, butted his 39-year-old team-mate.
However, both Hull City and the casino today played down the incident and City’s players were allowed to remain in the club following the incident.
Today, City chairman Paul Duffen refused to talk about the matter.
He said any such matters were dealt with in-house.
The Mail understands both players could find themselves disciplined for their part in the incident, with PFA rules dictating that they could be fined a maximum of up to two weeks’ wages.
A spokeswoman for the casino today confirmed there had been a fracas between two City stars.
However, she said there had been no need to call in the police as the matter was resolved quickly and involved no other parties.
She said: “There was a very small fracas between two players and it was all over within a minute or two. There were no other customers involved and it did not warrant us filling in an incident report.”
An spokesman for Hull City said: “It was an unfortunate incident. The club decline to comment any further.”
Windass earned legend status when he fired City into the top-flight by scoring a spectacular winner in last season’s play-off final against Bristol City at Wembley.
However, he has only made two appearances as a substitute this season and has often voiced his frustration at not making it into the first team.
King has replaced him in the Tigers side as a regular in the City front line, scoring three times for City so far this season in wins at Newcastle and West Brom.
