Riders from 16 teams will ride through the city as part of the prestigious Tour Of Britain cycle race.
For the first time in the race's history Hull will host the Yorkshire leg of the tour.
The 104-mile (168km) stage will start from Hull City Hall in the city centre before heading through the East Riding to the finish in Dalby Forest.
Councillor Kalvin Neal, portfolio holder for quality of life at Hull City Council, said: “The city will provide the perfect backdrop to this spectacular event, which is fast and exciting.
“The race will raise the profile of not just Hull, but also East Yorkshire.
“We know people are already visiting here and hopefully this will provide a welcome boost to our tourism.”
The Yorkshire stage will begin in Hull city centre on Thursday, September 11, and finish at Dalby Forest in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
During the route the riders will cycle from the city centre along the A63 across the Humber Bridge to Barton-upon-Humber and South Ferriby, and then back over the bridge.
It will then pass through Beverley, Hornsea and Bridlington.
It is hoped the race will promote East Yorkshire both nationally and internationally as a tourist destination.
