Hull thug faces life in jail for violence against women

A vile control freak who beat two of his girlfriends and raped three other women could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Jason Savage, 26, of Ferensway, Hull city centre, hospitalised two of his girlfriends and raped three women over a nine-year period.

The former boxer, who runs his own scaffolding business, poured boiling water over one of his girlfriends when she was six-months pregnant with his child, leaving her scarred for life.

Two weeks before she gave birth, he attacked her again, stamping on her face at Hessle Foreshore when she told him she was leaving him.

Both Savage's girlfriends suffered black eyes, fractured cheek bones, serious head injuries and broken teeth in sickening attacks while they were with him.

The heavily tattooed abuser told all his victims he would kill their families if they told anyone about the attacks.

A jury at Hull Crown Court took just three-and-a-half hours to unanimously find him guilty of three counts of rape, three counts of causing grievous bodily harm to two of his victims, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one indecent assault.

Judge Roger Thorn QC told Savage he is a "danger" and faced the prospect of spending his remaining days in jail.

He said: "An indeterminate sentence is in my mind.

"I have obviously formed my own view of dangerousness.

"I will deal with this case by way of sentence in due course when reports are ready.

"I order a psychiatric report to assess your dangerousness."

Savage raped three women when he was in relationships with his girlfriends.

He met them in Hull nightclubs.

Savage told his girlfriends they needed to lose weight and forced them to run around fields as he chased them in his car.

He also timed them running up stairs - attacking them if they were not quick enough.

One girlfriend was made to write lists of how she could improve herself for him.

Savage's offending only came to an end when one of his girlfriends found the courage to tell the police last July.

Detectives were then able to trace his other victims.

Throughout his two-week trial, Savage said he was the victim of violence, claiming he was "a battered boyfriend".

He claimed sex was consensual with his rape victims.

Detective Sergeant Aiden Clarke, of Humberside Police's public protection team, said: "Savage is a manipulative and dangerous man who has offended against several victims in a serious manner.

"He has now been found guilty and will be held responsible for his actions.

"The officers have worked closely with our partners, including Hull Domestic Abuse Partnership, which has provided support to the survivors of Savage's calculated crimes."
