Joe Longthorne returns to New Theatre

Joe Longthorne said he was delighted to be back in his home city, as hundreds of fans, friends and family turned out to see him at Hull New theatre.

Speaking ahead of his concert on Monday night, the 53-year-old entertainer told of his affection for the city theatre, in Kingston Square, and said performing in Hull had a special place in his heart.

Joe said: “It's a feeling like no other place in the world.

“I feel I know everyone in the audience personally.”

Fans said they were delighted to see Joe back on stage in Hull.

Sharron Arnett, 49, of Boulevard, west Hull, who grew up with Joe, said: “It's lovely to see him again. I've been excited all week.”

Steven Cole, 52, from Hessle, said: “I have known Joe since school days.

“I used to go and watch him practice when he was 11 or 12.

“He always packs every place out – it's fabulous.”

Joe's sister Ann White, of Adelaide Street, west Hull, spoke of her pride for her brother.

“When you see him singing, you get goose pimples,” she said.

“I'm ever so proud.”
