Hunt is on for Batman lookalike

07:00 - 13-May-2008

Riddle me this. Do you have what it takes to become Batman?

Kapow! A new Hull company has launched a search to find its own Bruce Wayne – a fearless and steadfast superhero who can fill the Caped Crusader's cowl and combat the forces of evil.

Zap! Nick Andrew, who has launched his new company Hullywood Entertainment providing movie replica cars, lookalikes and memorabilia, is desperately looking for a tall, dark and chiselled beefcake who can make personal appearances dressed as everyone's favourite Gotham vigilante.

“I'm really short of people who look the part of a superhero,” says movie fan Nick, 28, of west Hull.

“It isn't easy being Batman and you've got to have a certain look. You've got to be at least 6ft tall, athletic and have that Wayne square jaw that looks great in a cowl.

“You don't have to have your own Batmobile or Batcave hidden under the garage – but it would be a distinct advantage if you do.

“We won't be going out fighting crime at night but I really need someone who is good at meeting people and striking some dramatic poses.”

But it's not all about looking good in rubber. Any successful applicants hoping to take on the mantle of the DC Comics legend will have to be police checked before attending any events to make sure they can live-up to Bruce Wayne's law enforcing image.

And Nick expects his Bat-bookings to go through the roof this summer, boosted by the arrival of the latest Hollywood blockbuster featuring the Caped Crusader.

The Dark Knight, which sees Christian Bale reprising the role of Batman who this time takes on his arch enemy The Joker, is due for release on July 25.

The hotly anticipated movie hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this year when Heath Ledger, who plays Batman's clown-faced nemesis in the movie, was found dead in his New York apartment, aged just 28.

Nick said: “I am expecting Batman to be a very popular character for us this year as he is one of the all time favourite superheroes.”

Anyone who thinks they have got what it takes to be Batman can contact Nick via the Batphone on 07812 859205.
