Police hold action night in west Hull

Friday, May 16, 2008, 07:00

Police are set to clamp down on youngsters drinking alcohol and anti-social behaviour in a night of action tonight.

The West Neighbourhood Policing Team has been responding to complaints of under-age drinkers in the Willerby Road and Wymersley Road area of west Hull.

There have been reports of as many as 40 young people meeting and drinking alcohol and behaving in an anti-social manner.

Two young people have already been arrested and large quantities of alcohol have been taken from children aged as young as 12.

PC Matt Jarvis, Neighbourhood Beat Officer for the area, said: “We have had youths travelling from Swanland, Kirk Ella and all over the city congregating on Wymersley Park, causing nuisance for local residents and spoiling the fun of families who want to use the park with their children on the warmer evenings.

“We will deal as robustly and as strongly as possible with any youths causing problems and committing offences in this area.

“Myself, PCSOs and Special Constables will be out in the park providing a highly visible presence to nip these problems in the bud before they start.”
