Swine flu confirmed at Hull school

Health officials have confirmed two suspected swine flu cases at a west Hull secondary school.

Parents of children at Pickering High School received two text messages and a letter informing them of the outbreak.

Two cases, both believed to be children, were confirmed by Hull City Council and NHS Hull.

One parent told the Mail: "I think the school has done the right thing by keeping us informed about the cases.

"I have younger children at the school and I will probably keep them off until we get the all clear."

Pickering High School has about 1,000 pupils.

Judith Harwood, head of learning, leisure and achievement at Hull City Council, said: "We are working closely with the school and NHS Hull to deal with any suspected cases of swine flu.

"We want to reassure parents that we have all the necessary precautionary measures in place and we would advise them to follow guidance issued from the NHS."
