Teenager killed in garage fire

A teenager has died and another is in hospital with serious injuries following a garage fire at a home in East Riding.

Fire crews were alerted just after 4am this morning at a home in Chestnut Drive in Holme on Spalding Moor.

After quickly bringing the blaze under control, firefighters from Market Weighton searched of the garage and found the body of a young teenager.

Another teenager escaped blaze and was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where he is being treated for serious burns and shock.

Tony Harvey, from the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, said: 'This is an extremely traumatic incident that has shocked the local community.

“The fire appears to have developed very quickly and a fire investigation team is trying to determine how and why that fire started.”







The bottom line is this country was not well-prepared for flooding last year
