Three arrested in drug raids

Teams of police simultaneously swooped on a house in Stroud Crescent West and one in Porlock Drive on Saturday.
Officers arrived at the addresses and within seconds they were in position.
Onlookers in Porlock Drive stopped to watch as officers leapt into action, breaking the back door open with a blow from a metal ramming instrument, before filing into the property.
Inside they discovered a number of plants and seedlings and a shed-filled “from floor to ceiling” with cultivation equipment.
Police organised the afternoon raids after receiving information that occupants were involved in cultivating cannabis plants and dealing the drug.
Last week a police helicopter had also detected a heat source from the roof space of the house in Porlock Drive, which supported information given to the North Carr Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Officer in charge PC Martina Ackrill said she was pleased with another successful raid and warned dealers that police would continue working hard to rid the estate of drugs.
She said: “Drugs have a severe effect on the local area, creating crime hotspots and an increase in anti-social behaviour.
“If people report something suspicious to us, we will take a proactive approach and people will get caught.
“Since declassification, I have found a lot of people seem to be growing plants and a lot of this seems to be going to school children.”
PC Ackrill said it was not just the fact children had access to drugs that concerned her.
She said: “The cannabis being grown is called skunk, which is quite potent and strong.
“The public do help by giving us information and I am sure they will be happy drugs are being taken off their streets.”
Two men and a woman were arrested. They were later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
PC Ackrill said she was fortunate to have a close working relationship with the council's housing officers and the Anti-Social Behaviour Team.
She said: “They can help give us the information we need and a raid can be organised and done quickly.”
Anyone who suspects criminal or anti-social behaviour in their community is urged to call Humberside Police on 0845 6060222, Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or the Hull Drug Action Team on 0800 1380941.
