“Last year I had a mixing bowl full of sweets. Unfortunately some little 'sweethearts' knocked on the door whilst my disabled mother was in her hoist, leaving us both, otherwise engaged. The little *******s egged the doorway, even though we had no sign declaring we were taking part. I now refuse point blank to take part in serving these scrounging little beggars until it is perfectly acceptable for me to go knocking door to door for Chardonnay!”
“Gives us some cash or we'll key your car, push dog cr@p through your letter box or set fire to your drain pipe. Well... what're you waiting for? Happy hallwe'en!
I read somewhere that in america they put a pumpkin outside their door on hallowe'en to show they were taking part and if a house didn't have one the 'trick or treaters' would leave them alone. That seems a fair and reasonable solution to me.”
“What a fantastic time it must have been in the Avenues area. Everyone young and old seem to have enjoyed it. I agree with TPEHull enjoy the good that neighbours bring and the happiness these children experienced. Times are tough these days. NAFili how boring you must be! Never mind,Christmas not too far away so that might be just like Halloween when you get your visit from the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.”
“I love Halloween no matter where it comes from, I decorate my house inside and out and love to see the children's face when they see the decorations. I only wish more children came to my house, I would love it if 100 trick or treaters came to my door. There is so many unhappy things happening in the world today so it is nice to do something that makes people smile :)”

“@Serzby, That is the norm, or if the porch light is off it is an accepted sign to not go knock.”
